When Goss International needed to relocate three colossal printing presses from Germany, the challenge wasn’t just about weight – a combined 1,350 tonnes – it was also a complex cross-border puzzle. Exiting the building presented its own headache: a road decline meant the dryer could only be painstakingly skated less than a metre at a time.
To overcome the immense weight and awkward dimensions, our teams used advanced jacking systems to lift each press section from its plinth, then precisely skated them towards the exit. The difficult exit required careful manoeuvring, including raising the massive dryer on chocks to keep it parallel before the final lift and rotation onto low loaders using a 220-tonne mobile crane.
