Major Industrial Relocation Projects & Complex Heavy Lifting

Turnkey machinery removal and relocation solutions

Major industrial relocation projects require strategic project management and the ability to coordinate complex operations across borders while keeping critical shutdown windows on schedule.

A missed milestone or delayed transport permit can put investments at risk. By bringing every aspect of your multinational relocation under one experienced team, you can simplify coordination across multiple interfaces, reduce project risk, and keep your programme aligned with operational priorities and critical timescales.

Navigating Project Complexity Across Borders

Through one accountable project team operating across 5 European operational bases, AIS Eurelo partners with manufacturers and end-users to navigate the challenges that make major factory relocation projects complex. Managing projects involving strict shutdown windows and multiple international stakeholders, AIS Eurelo coordinates:

  • High-value or business-critical manufacturing assets
  • Multiple facilities, sites or European locations
  • Cross-border transport, permits and regulatory requirements
  • Specialist heavy lifting requirements or restricted access environments
  • Mechanical, electrical, civil and structural engineering interfaces
  • Testing, validation and phased recommissioning of production lines

By identifying critical dependencies early and managing every stage as a single integrated programme, AIS Eurelo helps reduce risk and maintain control over safety, cost, schedule, and operational continuity.

An Integrated Cross-Border Partnership

Complex international relocations require close coordination across countries, suppliers and technical teams. AIS Eurelo works alongside you as a single project partner, coordinating every element of the move through dedicated project leadership, cross-border logistics expertise and specialist industrial capabilities.

Supported by the wider AIS Group, our teams combine the flexibility of a specialist relocation partner with the engineering strength and heavy-lifting resources of an established international group. Learn more about AIS Eurelo’s expertise and approach.

Health and Safety Management in High-Stakes Environments

Large-scale industrial relocations require consistent quality and compliance with environmental, safety and health standards across all sites and borders. AIS Eurelo applies a unified health and safety framework throughout every project, ensuring the same high standards are maintained from planning through to final handover.

A dedicated project manager oversees programme-wide compliance, coordinating risk assessments, lift plans, and project controls to ensure safety requirements remain consistent across all workstreams. Our approach is underpinned by RoSPA Gold Medal status and adherence to recognised industry standards, including EN 13000 for relevant lifting operations.

Our Proven Track Record: Major AIS Group Projects

Dinorwig Power Station: Complex crane installation in a live critical infrastructure environment

The AIS Group team delivered a major crane installation at Europe’s largest man-made cavern, replacing an existing crane with two new 160-tonne overhead cranes while the power station remained fully operational. The project required specialist engineering, confined-space lifting and meticulous planning to complete the installation safely within a nine-day window, with no disruption to power generation.

Project highlights:

  • Two 160-tonne overhead cranes installed
  • Existing crane removed in a live operational facility
  • Specialist confined-space lifting and rigging
  • 450-tonne hydraulic jacking system deployed
  • Completed in nine days with zero disruption to power generation

AVL Red Bull Powertrains: International Move and Installation of Modular Test Cells

The AIS Group supported AVL in delivering and installing 22 fully fitted modular test cells, each weighing up to 64 tonnes, for Red Bull Powertrains’ advanced powertrain facility in Milton Keynes. Following six months of preparation, which included detailed lift plans, abnormal-load logistics strategies, and international route planning, our teams transported the high-value modules from Austria to the UK. They were installed in sequence within a live construction environment, including lifts through a roof opening with just 50 mm clearance.

Project highlights:

  • 22 modular test cells delivered and installed
  • Cross-border transport from Austria to the UK
  • Modules weighing up to 64 tonnes
  • 750-tonne mobile crane, a 14-tonne pick-and-carry crane deployed
  • End-to-end project management from logistics planning to final installation
