Project Snapshot
- Client: Large, branded pasta manufacturer
- Location: Czech Republic
- AIS branch involved: AIS Eurelo
- Project duration: 9 months
- Role on project: Principal contractor for all installation works
The Challenge: New Production Lines Required Without Stopping Production
The initial project brief as set out by the client was to facilitate the scrapping of two old production lines for pasta as well as the full installation of a new line.
The scope of works was further extended to include the installation of four silos, a new conveyor line, and service works on other remaining old production lines.
As the client had ongoing food production on lines that continued to run whilst the work was taking place, extra care was needed to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and ensure clean working conditions in a sterile food production environment.
AIS Solution: Physical Separation for Zero Production Downtime
To deliver the project successfully, we established a controlled scrapping process by creating a clear physical separation between the operational production area and the area in which the old lines were to be decommissioned and replaced with the installation of the new line. This allowed work to proceed safely, reducing the risks of cross-contamination, while neighbouring lines remained fully active in continued clean-working conditions.
We then undertook the complete mechanical, electrical and piping installation of the new Italian‑manufactured line, coordinating every stage to ensure seamless integration with the existing facility. These decommissioning and installation activities were supported by our extensive in‑house fleet of lifting equipment, including FLTs, scissor lifts, boom lifts and an 11‑tonne Valla, enabling our team to operate efficiently within extremely limited space and without disrupting surrounding operations.
Throughout the project, we applied the AIS Group’s robust health and safety management systems to ensure works were planned, managed, and carried out safely. This included the provision and implementation of task‑specific RAMS covering lifting operations, working at height, hot works, and associated activities. All waste materials were carefully scrapped, sorted and managed in accordance with local legal requirements, reinforcing our commitment to responsible and sustainable project delivery.
Establishing a Good Relationship With Our Client
Daily on‑site coordination meetings between our site foreman and the client’s project manager, alongside progress reviews between our project manager and the client’s three times a week, supported transparent communication and rapid issue resolution.
At project completion, the client was fully satisfied and, as a result, further opportunities to quote for the installation of another new line were presented to us.
